Our district is currently engaged in a review and selection process for new English Language Arts (ELA) instructional resources for our 6–12 students. This process is part of our ongoing commitment to provide high-quality, standards-aligned materials that support student learning and achievement.
A committee of educators and instructional leaders has carefully evaluated several state-approved programs, including those from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH), Savvas Learning Company, McGraw Hill Education, and Imagine Learning (StudySync). Each resource has been reviewed for alignment to the Georgia K-12 ELA Standards, instructional quality, accessibility for diverse learners, and support for teachers and families.
As part of the adoption process, community members, parents, and stakeholders are invited to review these materials and provide feedback. Sample resources are available for public viewing at all district middle and high schools. Feedback may be submitted to Dr. James Lawhorn via email at jameslawhorn@lcboe.net or by phone at 478-272-4767.
The district values community input and will consider all feedback before making a final recommendation to the Board of Education.
