The local school system is required to consult with home school representatives and private school representatives to share how the proportionate share of federal funds is determined and how special education services and related services will be provided for private school and home school students with disabilities. We also would like to hear from private school parents and homeschool parents of students with disabilities to get input in to what special education services need to be considered.
The Laurens County Board of Education will hold a meeting to discuss the proportionate share on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 5:30pm at the Laurens County Board of Education. The address is 467 Firetower Road, Dublin, Ga. If you are unable to attend, you may contact me at staceysanders@lcboe.net or 478-272-4767 to share your thoughts.
Included in this package you will find Child Find Brochures for Laurens County Schools. Child Find is the school system’s attempt to locate any children who are suspected of having a disability from ages 3-21. Special education and/or related services may be recommended if a disability interferes with a child’s learning. Speech/Language Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Occupational Therapy are some of the related services that may be offered.
Please feel free to contact Stacey Sanders at 478-272-4767 if you have any questions.
