As we celebrate our teachers and nurses, I wanted to take the opportunity to say thank you on behalf of the Laurens County Board of Education, for the great job you do in looking after our most precious assets, our children.
We as a board want ALL of our staff to know how much you mean to each of us.
By now most of you are aware of the potential budget cuts every state agency will have to take for the 2020-2021 fiscal year. These cuts are currently at 14% and will affect our budget negatively in excess of $6,000,000. I myself have seen on the news and through social media about other school systems preparing for furlough days for the upcoming school year. I want to assure you that this school board along with all of the administrative staff have been good stewards of the taxpayers money. Superintendent Garnto and this board are committed to maintaining each of your salaries as projected for FY20-21 with NO furlough days.
Thanks again for what each of you do to mold the lives of our children. #TeamLaurens
