Special Message to Class of 2020

Hello Class of 2020,

I pray that you all are doing well and staying safe. I would have never guessed that when I graduated from West Laurens High School in 1993, that 27 years later I would be writing a letter to the 2020 seniors of Laurens County Schools! What an honor!! CONGRATULATIONS on completing your high school journey. You each have the opportunity to do anything you want in this life, so it is important to make it count. I realize your emotions are going in a hundred directions and the uncertainties of what tomorrow will hold is overwhelming. I would like to personally thank each of you for being patient during these trying times.

Of course, no journey would be complete without a celebration! The Laurens County Board of Education, wants you to know that you have not been forgotten. Due to the COVID-19 executive orders issued by Governor Kemp, we have been very limited in our ability to plan any activities to mark each of your accomplishments. Your safety is our number one priority. Our plans are to announce tentative dates for upcoming graduations and celebrations on or before our May 14th board meeting. We are proud of you all and look forward to what your futures hold. Thanks again and may God richly bless each of you!!
