Welcome to West Laurens High School! In 9th grade English we will be stepping into a world of reading and writing with a vivid and dynamic use of vocabulary. Together we will explore how great writers communicate their ideas and then we will work to emulate these talented writers in our own pieces. My goal for each student is to leave my class not only exceeding the standards set forth by the Georgia Department of Education, but to have developed master skills in reading and comprehending texts, speaking fluently to audiences, and engaging readers by writing in a clear and focused manner.
I have been teaching at West Laurens High School since August 2008. I love being a part of the community of students and staff at our school. The staff at WLHS loves students and wants nothing more than for each student in our school to be successful. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Education from Shorter University in Rome, Georgia. After graduating college, I moved to North Carolina and worked in the corporate world as a Sr. Staffing Specialist in the human resources field helping people find jobs that matched their interest, skills, and abilities. The years I worked in the "real-world" allowed me to develop my own skills in organization, time management, and customer service. This experience helps me to communicate to students the importance of a quality education that will assist in opening doors for them in the future.
