Principal's Message

Sherri Moorman
Principal

Dear Parents and Students,

I am honored to be the new principal of West Laurens Middle School. It will be a pleasure to meet and get to know the children, parents, and families. I am especially pleased to be part of a faculty and staff committed to providing the best possible education for every student in a safe and academically challenging environment. I look forward to building on the tradition of academic excellence set by the past principals.

Varied levels of instruction provide a framework to challenge advanced students and support those who are struggling, while creating a solid classroom experience for student learning at all grade levels. Our teachers at every grade level are trained to give support and provide new learning opportunities. We take a proactive approach and continue an expectation of a positive school culture in which all students can take academic risks and achieve excellence. WLM's talented staff have dedicated themselves to upholding this expectation by continually monitoring and addressing student needs and concerns.

Communication between home and school is very important to the success of the school. Please keep the lines of communication open with the school. We welcome your participation in the school improvement process. We will continue to update parents and the community through our school web site and Facebook page. It is our intention for each student to leave WLM prepared, equipped with critical thinking skills, and empowered for a successful high school experience.

Dr. James Comer (2004) stated, “No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship.” The Assistant Principals, Mr. Reed Waldrep and Mrs. Julie Dyar, and I want to make sure we get to know the students and families of WLM. We look forward to working with you and your student(s). Please don't hesitate to call or email. Our phone number is 478-272-8452 and my email is sherrimoorman@lcboe.net.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sherri L. Moorman
