Move On When Ready

 

If your child is interested in being a Move On When Ready student, which is the new term for Dual Enrollment, for the 2017-2018 school year please have them stop by the counselors office to sign up for the college of their choice.  On Thursday, April 27th at 6:00pm at West Laurens High, a representative from each local college will be here to enroll your student for Fall 2017 classes.


Pre-K Drawings Cancelled

All in-district Pre-K applications have been accepted for the 2017-2018 school year. The Pre-K drawings scheduled for March 31 have been cancelled.

Parent Cafe on Bullying

Laurens County Schools, in partnership with Community Mental Health and Laurens County Law Enforcement Center, is sponsoring a Parent Cafe on Building Bridges to Combat Bullying. This event will take place at the O.W.L. on March 30, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Click HERE for the event flyer.


2017-2018 Pre-K Selection Process

End of Course Information

Parents,
The Laurens County School System announces our Spring assessment calendar for the End of Grade Course Assessment. The Georgia End of Course Assessment for Ninth Grade Lit, American Lit, Algebra I, Geometry, Biology, Physical Science, U.S. History and Economics will be held in Laurens County between May 3rd and May 17th. Below you will find some links that will provide you with great resources for helping prepare your student for the EOC.

Parent Involvement Surveys FY17

Laurens County Schools are continually looking to improve ways to involve parents in our programs and schools. Your input is vital in the planning and implementation of the parental involvement program and activities in our schools. The focus of Laurens County Schools is to help all students meet high academic achievement standards  regardless of their socioeconomic status and background. The following survey is confidential and will be used to assist us with future planning for parental involvement activities and events at our schools. Georgia School Climate Parent Survey

All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia School Climate Parent Survey. The data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.

Evacuation Shelters

In cooperation with the Red Cross, the following Laurens County Schools have been deemed emergency evacuation shelters: East Laurens High School, East Laurens Middle School, East Laurens Elementary School, West Laurens High School, and West Laurens Middle School. The sites will open as shelters at 4:00 pm on Thursday, October 6, 2016.
 
Friday, October 7th is a teacher workday. Faculty and staff should report at 8:00 am. Unless under the direct supervision of a school employee, there should be no students on the campuses of these facilities.

The homecoming football game at West Laurens High School will be played as scheduled.
 
Also, please be reminded that Monday, October 10, 2016, is a staff and student holiday. We expect school to resume on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.
 
Thank you for your cooperation as we provide assistance to those who are under evacuation orders.


Buddy Ball Rescheduled

The Middle Georgia Buddy Ball event originally scheduled for Saturday, October 8, 2016 has been rescheduled. The event will now be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016 from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Southern Pines.


School Flu Vaccination Clinic Dates

The following are dates for the health department school flu vaccination clinics:

Northwest Laurens Elementary – October 20

Southwest Laurens Elementary – October 24

West Laurens Middle and High – October 26

West Laurens High Pre-K – October 26

East Laurens – October 28


School Cancellation

Laurens County Schools will be closed for students and staff on Friday, September 2. The East Laurens High School football game will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Montgomery County. At this time, the West Laurens High School football game is still scheduled for Friday at 7:30 at West Laurens. Please check the Laurens County Schools Facebook page or website for the latest updates.


Centralized Registration Center

As of September 6, 2016, the Laurens County School System will open our centralized registration center at the O.W.L. (Old West Laurens High School) at 338 West Laurens School Road. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
